THE INTERNAL MACHINE

Roundtable discussion and performance - Friday, December 15, 2017 6:30 pm

Group exhibition - October 6 – December 16, 2017

Organized by John Roach, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Parsons School of Design and Art and an interdisciplinary artist.

Join Curator John Roach and artists Brian Dettmer, Douglas Paulson, and Benjamin Wright, for a Roundtable discussion, as well as a performance by András Böröcz, concerning the exhibit The Internal Machine. This exhibition presents a selection of works following the notion of the book as not only object but of mechanism, suggesting a perspective that considers the book object as a piece of technology.

About András Böröcz' work:

His video and performance "Manual" in two acts: Section A: Tremor, 2009 Videography by Mátyás Erdély, music and performance by András Dés; Section B: "Sleeping Muse", 2014

In "Manual" Böröcz performs with books he carved from wood. One of them is an instrument, the other one is inspired by Brancusi and Moholy Nagy's egg related works. His performances have two basic parts: 1, documentary video, 2, live performance with video projection. Videography by Klára Palotai.
